The hospital derives its name from its founder, Thomas Guy, who established it in 1721 and it remains on the site of its original location to this day. Originally intended as a treatment centre for “incurables” discharged from nearby St. Thomas’s, St Guy’s has expanded to become one of the most important training hospitals in Britain today.
