The Smart Turnout pop-up shop is now up and running in London’s Selfridges on Oxford Street. The pop-up features our much-coveted accessories range of bags, bow ties, braces and belts, as well as watches, socks and cufflinks in the traditional spirit of Father’s Day gift ideas.

Smart Turnout is the brainchild of former Scots Guards officer Philip Turner. Having had his racing colours knitted for the Grand Military Gold Cup at Sandown, Philip looked to source a quality jumper in his regimental colours. Unable to find a retailer, he set out to make his own and it wasn’t long before his attire caught the eye of his fellow Guardsmen. Soon, Philip was producing not only jumpers, but ties, socks and a whole host of accessories.

A true British champion, Smart Turnout accessories are designed and produced to the highest standard in the UK. With the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee upon us, 2012 looks set to be one of the most influential years for Britain, and Smart Turnout aims to keep flying the flag for British heritage style.

One Direction wearing Smart Turnout

Young British band One Direction chose to celebrate British fashion in their red carpet outfits for the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards on Sunday. With the band all well-dressed in blazers and chinos, Harry and Louis decided to go one better than the rest of the group, and completed their outfits with braces and a bow tie from London based fashion brand Smart Turnout.

Over the course of the 6 Nations there has been some banter between the BBC’s Rugby pundits as to who has the best scarf. Many different colours and styles have been tried, but there have still been arguments as to who has the best. Jonathan Davies decided there was only one way to stop the debate, to wear the Smart Turnout Rugby scarf and show up the poor neck wear of his fellow pundits. So, as Ireland took on France, he was fighting off the cold with a Smart Turnout scarf. Made of pure lambswool the scarf was the perfect piece to keep the chill spring weather at bay. With the match going to a draw the only winner was Mr Davies, who stayed warm throughout, in his Smart Turnout scarf.

Smart Turnout were again there as France took on England, and this time Les Bleus were defeated. In this match Mr Davies opted for a scarf in neutral colours, the purple, green and blue of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. But neutral or not, the scarf still marked him out as a man of style, standing out from other pundits.

The only question that remains is, what scarf he will wear next weekend to out-do his fellow pundits and see the final match of the tournament at Twickenham? Will he stick with one of the old favourites, or opt for a new colour, perhaps the Household Division or, the Princess of Wales’s.

The traditional stripes of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment have proved popular worldwide, having been adopted by tie wearers worldwide in a variety of different colours beyond those traditionally associated with the Scottish regiment. However, being sticklers for tradition we have kept the historic colours, green, blue, separated by narrow red and yellow stripes, and you can find them on everything from socks to watchstraps.
